Every year on 21 June, Greenlanders celebrate their National Day – a celebration of their culture, history, and national identity.

On this day, Greenlandic flags are flown across both Greenland and Denmark.

The National Day was established by the former Home Rule Government in 1985, and it was on this same date that Greenland was granted self-government in 2009.

Since 2016, the day has also been an official flag day in Denmark.

The National Day is marked by events such as church services and communal meals in cities across both Greenland and Denmark.
