Support Greenland is art of Folkemødet 2026, to strengthen awareness and understanding of Greenland and the Arctic.

This week, politicians, journalists, business leaders, civil society organisations, and citizens from across the Danish Realm are gathering on the island of Bornholm for Folkemødet – Denmark’s annual democracy festival.

Folkemødet is one of the country’s most important platforms for democratic dialogue, bringing together decision-makers and citizens for open conversations on politics, society, culture, and the future.

Support Greenland is proud to be part of this year’s programme, helping to strengthen awareness and understanding of Greenland and the Arctic in discussions that matter.

Throughout the festival, Support Greenland is contributing to conversations about art, culture, and communication, while also engaging in debates on geopolitics, security, and the Arctic’s growing strategic importance.

As co-organiser of the programme series Arktis Live, together with partners from across the Arctic community, we create a space for informed dialogue about the opportunities and challenges facing Greenland and the wider Arctic region.

In addition, Julie Rademacher, CEO of Support Greenland, is participating in several talks and panel discussions throughout the festival.

Democracy thrives when people meet. Folkemødet provides a unique platform for dialogues at a time when Greenland and the Arctic are receiving unprecedented international attention, it is crucial that we contribute to the conversations, build understanding, and strengthen relationships across communities and borders to strengthen the role and respect for Greenlanders and greenlands right to self determination

Folkemødet is expected to attract tens of thousands of participants from across Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and beyond.

Support Greenland looks forward to contributing to the discussions and ensuring that Greenlandic and Arctic perspectives remain an important part of the democratic conversation.
